Glorifying God...Expanding His Kingdom

February 2018 Newsletter

A Word from the Pastor…

Our deacons and church have decided that it is time to select some new deacons for our church.  At present, we have five deacons and we feel we need more deacons.  It has been several years since we selected some new deacons.  We will use the process that is outlined in our Church Operations Manual.

The first step will be that we will ask our members to nominate men for the office of a deacon.  On Sunday morning, March 11, 2018 in our 10:45 am worship service we will allow our members to nominate up to 3 men on a secret ballot.  A member is not required to nominate 3.  They may have only 1 or 2 or maybe none they wish to nominate, but no one will be allowed to nominate over 3 men.

The next step will be that the deacons will tabulate the nominations and pray about those who were nominated.  They will then meet with the men from those nominated that they feel the Lord is leading them to ask about being a deacon.  They will also discuss the duties, qualifications, and importance of the deacon office.  The person will then be given time to pray and consider and seek the Lord’s leadership about becoming a deacon.

Next, those who consent to become a deacon will go through a time of training to grow and see what the deacon ministry involves.  After the training they will make the final decision about becoming a deacon, be voted on by the church, and be ordained.

All of this is a very important spiritual process in the life of our church.  It should be a Spirit-led process!  I ask you to be praying about this entire process and that the Lord will lead us to the right men.  You should be praying now about who you will nominate on March 11.  This is not a popularity contest or election of just anyone.  You should consider nominating men who live a good Christian life in private, at home, and in public.  They should be men of good Christian character and conduct.  They should be men of Christian maturity who will make good and godly leaders of our church.  I am praying and trusting in the Lord’s leadership and blessing as we select these new deacons.

In His Love,

~Bro. Richard

Thank You…

Thank you all for the kind words, calls, texts, and cards during the time of the loss of my niece.  I especially thank you all for the prayers – they were heard by God and the effects were felt by me and my family.  I am honored to serve the Lord through such wonderful people.  May God richly bless you for your kindness!

With Christian love from your church secretary,

Tammy Baker and family

Pastor Richard and Church Family,

Thank you so much for the generous Christmas gift you gave me.  God has blessed me with such a loving and wonderful church family.  I love each of you and am so happy to call you my church family.  Thank you for allowing me to be your church pianist.
