Glorifying God...Expanding His Kingdom

How to Become a Member

By Profession of Faith in Jesus Christ and Baptism

If you have recently accepted Christ as your Savior, making a public profession of faith is the first step in becoming a member of a Baptist Church.  This is followed by believer's baptism by immersion, an act not necessary for one's salvation but one that serves as a visible symbol of what Christ has done in a person's heart.  An experience of personally accepting Christ and believer's baptism by immersion are pre-requisites for membership.  You join this way by coming forward during the invitation and expressing to the Pastor your wish to be baptized and become a member.  All new Christians are encouraged to attend the Basic Christian Living Classes.  These are 6 one hour sessions taught by the pastor.

By Transfer of Letter

If you are a member of another Southern Baptist Church, you may join our church by transferring your membership from that church to this one.  You may do this by coming forward during the invitation and expressing to the Pastor your desire to join the church in this way.

By Statement

If you presently are a member of another denomination, but have accepted Christ as your personal Savior and Lord by faith, and experienced believer's baptism by immersion, you may join by a statement of "your personal faith and believer's baptism by immersion."   This may be done by coming forward during the invitation and expressing to the Pastor your desire to join the church in this way.  All new members must attend the membership 101 and 102 classes.

The Procedure

When you come forward expressing your desire to join, the Pastor will introduce you to the church at the end of the invitation and share with the church your desire to join.  He will then set up a time to talk with you further about membership in our church.  After this meeting, he will present your name to the church for acceptance into the membership at a Sunday service.
